Creative Computation for Structural Design

Optimization of Seismic Performance and Architectural Design of Large-scale Structures

Presenter & Coordinator: Caitlin Mueller (Assistant Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT))

 Prof. Caitlin Mueller is a researcher and designer focused on the creative synthesis of architecture and structural engineering. She is currently an Assistant Professor in Building Technology Program within the Department of Architecture at MIT, where she run the Digital Structures research group and co-direct the Structural Design Lab.
 Prof. Caitlin Mueller studied Architecture as an undergraduate at MIT, followed by a masters degree in Structural Engineering at Stanford University. She practiced for several years as a structural designer at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger in Boston before returning to academia to earn a masters degree in Computation for Design and Optimization and a Ph.D. in Building Technology, both at MIT.
