Abstract:
講演者のBanajiハーバード大学教授は，社会的認知の無意識的な面について着目し，偏見やステレオタイプと，それにかかわる発達や教育の研究をしています。 名古屋大学で開催される日本心理学会第79回大会での招待講演のため来日します。 今回の講演では，潜在的な社会的認知の発達に焦点を当て，偏見なき社会のデザインのための心理実験に基づく研究成果についてお話いただきます。

When do children begin to acquire knowledge about social groups and rely on such information as accurate and valid indicators of the social world? We began to study these questions 12 years ago and at that time expected to see a gradual learning curve of category knowledge acquisition and associated attributes. To our surprise we have found quite consistently that even young children show evidence of implicit social cognition that is on par with that of adults. When differences between children and adults are seen on explicit cognition, we also find that putting adults under cognitive load results in their behavior looking much like that of children. These data, besides being of interest to psychologists who wish to understand the core nature of social cognition, are also of interest as we consider questions of individual responsibility for the consequences of implicit bias.

講演者のBanajiハーバード大学教授は，社会的認知の無意識的な面について着目し，偏見やステレオタイプに関する研究を進めてきた第一人者である。今回の講演では， “The Development of Implicit Social Cognition”というテーマで、潜在的および顕在的な社会的認知の発達に焦点を当て，心理実験に基づく研究成果とともに，偏見なき社会のデザインに向けての示唆についてお話をいただいた。
参加者50名（内予科生・本科生10名）

講演後は，研究結果や潜在的認知研究の方法論を巡って活発な議論がおこなわれた。また，講演前には，Banaji 教授を囲んで，大学院生とのインフォーマルミーティングをおこない，参加者は自分の研究について紹介し，Banaji 教授の研究と関連づける形でコメントをもらうことができた。
