Foresight is a methodology for "creating a future story with uncertainty." It is necessary to include uncertainty when you create ideas for long term future.
Scanning method is a method developed by Stanford Research Institute to "imagine uncertain future".
In this workshop, we will exploit the possibility of uncertain future by utilizing the scanning method, and we will create ideas by multiplying insights gained by ethnography.
This time, “Food lifestyle of Kyoto in 2050 ” is the theme. Let’s think about the future of food in Kyoto together!

As the aging population, the declining birthrate, and the increase of the number of foreign tourists, the composition of the people now in Japan is changing. Among these changes, it is assumed that food, which is an element that can not be separated from daily life, will change in the future somehow. If these big social change happens, how will food lifestyle be like for the elderly, children and foreign tourists in Kyoto?
In this workshop, We will describe future food lifestyle of Kyoto in 2050 with the methodology, “Foresight” and “Ethnography”
We will introduce the theory of future foresight and design thinking method that we adopt to envision uncertain future and find out opportunities.
