近年のインターネットの発展、普及に伴い、人々は大量の情報を入手し利活用するようになりました。しかし、その情報の量が膨大であること、また情報の質が多様であることによって、デマや嘘の情報による被害、さらにはデジタルディバイドなど、さまざまな問題を引き起こしています。このような状況において、人々が健全に情報を利活用できるインタフェース、サービスをデザインすることが重要になっています。
さまざまな情報の中で、言語情報は大きな部分を占めており、また言語は人の知能の根幹であると考えられます。情報洪水の現代において、有用な言語情報を効率的に取得するシステム、自然言語で人とコミュニケーションするシステム、さらには人と人の自然なコミュニケーションを支援するシステムなどが求められています。このようなシステムのデザインについて、みなさんと一緒に考えていきたいと思います。

By virtue of the wide spread of the Internet in recent years, people have become to obtain and use much information. However, the huge quantity of information and the variety of information quality cause many problems including frauds by demagogy and false information and digital divide. It is essential to design interfaces and services for people to securely use and apply information.
Linguistic information occupies a large part of such various information, and languages are the basis of human intelligence. In this big data era, we need a system that efficiently acquires useful linguistic information, a system that communicates with humans with a natural language, and a system that supports natural communication between humans. I hope to think about the design of such systems with you.
